Monkey See Monkey Do

My little Maggie. She really does try to do every single thing that Dallin does. Whether we are at the dinner table and Dallin burps or going to the bathroom like him. It is so hilarious!

This is Dallin climbing out of the apple tree today. As soon as I clicked the camera he totally fell the rest of the way. Poor kid. He really tried to be brave and not cry. But he still wanted band-aids...

Quote of the day

As I am dropping Dallin off at pre-school he is leaving the van. He turns his sweet little head and says, "If you see any Roger Rogers, kick them in the head." And then turns and goes inside. No goodbye or anything.

In case you don't know. Roger Rogers are his name for the bad robots in the new Star Wars series. He calls them that because they say, "Roger Roger" all the time.

As we are eating lunch Dallin says, "Did you kick any Roger Rogers in the head while I was gone??"

Life around our house...

Nothing really exciting going on around our house today. Just getting ready for karate. Little Maggie is so funny. The picture didn't focus on her... but it's still cute...

After karate Dallin wanted to watch Lion King. But he wanted to watch it in French. So he did. For a little while anyway. Then he decided that we should go outside. It's been raining last night and this morning. I thought it would be good to get out and start turning some dirt where I want to plant sunflowers and Love Lies Bleeding.

As most of you probably know, I was and I guess still am kind of a priss. I would never be caught camping without being forced to. Riding a bicycle? Heck no! Working outside? Only if my parents told me I couldn't curl my hair if I didn't... I don't know. Kinda lame. I have changed my prissy ways for the most part. I LOVE to garden and get my hands dirty now. Although today, since it rained, all the snails have decided to come out and play. Dallin put one right in my face today and I screamed. It wasn't pretty.

He decided that he would put them on a stump in our backyard. Then Maggie decided to come over and step on them. Dallin (my tender heart) cried. We put the ones left living in a jar with some grass.

I went up to check on Dallin during quiet time and this is what I found.

This and laundry is what is going on at our house today! Fun!

Look at the cool trains!

We went to the Golden Spike State Park today for the re-enactment of the completion of the railroad that connected the east to the west. It was really a fun day!! I learned a TON about the railroad that I didn't know. I never even knew that this park even existed. And it's really not that far from my house!

When we first got there the kids were messing around. Just being glad to be out of their car seats...

There was a park ranger lady that was narrating far more than probably necessary. But there were some interesting facts. Like did you know that some of our lingo comes from railroad talk. And not the swear words... Things like "I got on the wrong track" and something else. Obviously it didn't stick. Oh well. There were a few of them.

Then the trains came into the picture. This is when it got really fun. All the old pictures of trains are of course black and white or sepia... Like this...

BUT... this is the REAL color of the train. This cute lady told me that they found the paperwork on these 2 trains and got the paint formula and everything so this is what they actually looked like!

My friend's daughter Sydney got this photo. I think she did a GREAT job!!! These are the trains meeting from the Pacific and the Atlantic at Promontory Point.

Although this is probably how it would have looked taken in the day...

Here is a reenactment of the photo taken before they smashed the bottles into the trains.

I tell ya... this was such a cool experience!!

After all the photos were taken we got to go up and get our pictures with the trains... Here we are~

After that we all went back to the van to have lunch. Then it was back to the train tracks to watch the actual reenactment. When they put the Golden Spike in the ground. This was a little hard for the kids to sit still for. So they wandered. And Syd got a little tired so she sat in the stroller.

The ride home from things like this is SO wonderful. I didn't actually have to do much. Brian and Steff sat in the front while Brian drove. I got to hang in the middle seat and take pictures!!!

What a wonderfully fun day! Now it's off to finish preparing our talks for tomorrow. It won't be that wonderful of a day... Oh well!

Pulling faces

I love pulling out the slip and slide. We went over to my friend Lasca's house today because we had a BEAUTIFUL day and wanted to pull out her big swimming pool for the kids to play in. This week is early out for my friend's kids that I had jaywalking and frolicking in forbidden streams last week so we had them come over too. We just didn't get it together to get the pool together early enough in the day. So I ran home and got our slip and slide for the kids to play on.
Have you ever looked at kid's faces on the slip and slide??? It is HILARIOUS!!!!!

I love the faces that kids pull.

And then little Maggie has been trying to go to the bathroom like Dallin. When he goes he is standing up and pulls his shirt all the way to ensure there isn't anything that gets on it...

She copies everything that he does. It's very cute.

It was a tie...

The Terminator did NOT win... But then neither did the dandelions... It think it was a tie...

This is before the nasty stuff...

This is after the nasty stuff...

I think I need to do it again. This is a monster dandelion that my sister found today!

I think I am afraid of it!

The Terminator

Flowers... I love flowers!!!

This year my tulips are actually coming up! The Young Women in our ward planted them for me when we lost our first baby.

I love the yellow ones... But not this yellow one! This yellow one is of the devil!

It definitely multiplies and replenishes the earth!

So - I got out the dandelion digger and started digging. And digging. And digging. Then my friend Janelle came over and said to get this spray. So I did!

I read the warning on it. And what you had to where. This is some nasty stuff!! You have to dress from head to toe and wear gloves and everything! So I did.

This is Dallin's attempt at getting me in the picture. I think he did a good job! These are coveralls that a 6'5" friend gave to Scott. I am 5'7". It's a little big...

But I felt like I was tough... so that's ok. So hopefully in 8 hours we will see dead dandelions in our backyard instead of yellow ones. eeeks... I really stink. That stuff is gross!
