Mamma Mia!!

So I think my new favorite movie of all time is Mamma Mia! My mom, sister and I went to see it last night!!! So the storyline isn't the greatest - but it is very entertaining! Maybe I love it so much because I would LOVE to own a villa in Greece. Or because I would love to run around like a hippie that Meryl Streep played! I am also a HUGE Abba fan - so 2 hours of Abba songs makes me very very happy!!!!!

Pierce Brosnan has got to be the most handsome man I have ever seen. I just can't believe that the first time I saw him was in the series Remington Steele! And yes he had greying head and facial hair in this show (which I typically do NOT like facial hair) he was still incredibly handsome!!!

I went out this morning and bought the soundtrack to the movie and I did some driving around today for this and that and was by myself - so I had the cd cranked up to really high - I am not telling how high and singing my heart out since no one was there to tell me not to!!! My throat is sore now. Oh well! Anyway - I LOVE this show and will own it the first day it is out to buy!!!!!!!!

It ended with a crack in the villa floor shooting water up to the sky and saying it was Aphrodite's Fountain. We drive up to my house and this is what we see!

IT'S APHRODITE'S FOUNTAIN IN MY FRONT YARD!!!!!!!!!! Actually it's just a broken sprinkler head, but hey, whatever! Yep - I want to be Donna when I grow up! (that is Meryl Streep's character)

Maxine for President

Everyone concentrates on the problems we're having in this country lately: illegal immigration, hurricane recovery, alligators attacking people in Florida .

Not me. I concentrate on solutions for the problems. It's a win-win situation.

+ Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border.
+ Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levies.
+ Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.

Any other problems you would like for me to solve today ? Yes!

Think about this one:

1. Cows
2..The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments

C O W S

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

T H E C O N S T I T U T I O N

They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq .... Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.

T H E 1 0 C O M M A N D M E N T S

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal,' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians..It creates a hostile work environment.

THANKS MOM! THIS IS HILARIOUS!!!!

Retiring of the Orange Belt and Lagoon

So Dallin had his belt test last Wednesday! He did great! He even broke a board with his foot on the first try!! Today was the belt retiring ceremony... I LOVE these kids with the white belts on their heads!!!!!!!

We haven't ever taken Dallin to Lagoon before. This was a first for us. And of course Maggie too! They both absolutely loved it! Now mom and dad on the other hand... Not loving it quite so much. But that's ok. It was fun to see the kids have fun!

Scott's sister and her family were in from Seattle. So the 2 siblings and their families that live in the area and we went to Lagoon together. It was so fun to see Carole's family! We rarely get to!

Now as we were waiting for people to gather for lunch we let our kids play in the fountain.

Maggie decided that she wanted to join in Dallin's fun and ran into the area while the water was off. The water came on and with that and the running that she immediately halted trying to miss the water - this was the result...

I really don't think that I could have possibly planned a shot better than the one I got on accident!!!
And thus this is the result...

Day 4 - Mt. Rushmore Trip

So we are headed home again... Once again... This is our view. But it does have a tiny change!!!
Things are pretty quiet in the car most of the morning. And surprisingly - most is well the whole ride! With the exception of Dallin's frequent pit stops...

And I tell ya - vacations are great! Dirt is wonderful in Indiana, Michigan, Children's Museums and South Dakota... BUT NOTHIN' BEATS MY BACKYARD DIRT!!!!

Day 3 – Mt. Rushmore Trip

***Warning**** Lots of pictures... This is for our family journal :)
This morning we decided to play at the Flintstones Campground for a bit. There is a train to ride on. We also went to Fred’s house and sat in his car.
Then to Barney’s house, a phone booth, all sorts of places in Bedrock!
Maggie wasn't very thrilled with this little ride....
Then we found a park in Bedrock! It was a blast!

This is Maggie going down a really tall slide that I thought for SURE she would crash and burn at the bottom – once again Mom has been proven wrong!

Next we went to Bear Country USA. What an awesome experience!! The rules were to keep the windows up on the car because the animals roam and you drive through to look at them. I guess they didn’t want a hungry bear to come and take a kid out of a car for lunch… I was a little sad that I couldn’t hang out the window to take pictures… just ignore the glares I couldn’t get out with Photoshop…

I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. But we got the BEST show from the reindeer! They were going around and around our car. They kept bumping it. I wanted so badly to open the window and run my hand along this one’s velvety antlers.
The mountain lion was really hot. Poor guy…

These bears were the amazing! Aren’t they beautiful??
This is an albino buffalo… And a regular one...
Did you know that porcupines eat corn on the cob like we do??
This little runt of a bear cub kept picking a fight with this bigger one. They were rolling around play fighting and falling in the water. It was really cute!
After Bear Country we went on a drive in Custer State Park to look at wildlife. We saw some animals and went back to camp for dinner, playing at the park and getting ready to head home on Sunday.

What an awesome trip we had! And if you think that the hectic-ness is over… It’s not. Scott’s sister and her family from Seattle are going coming to town Sunday and we are going to Lagoon Monday with them. My baby sis is getting married in 2 ½ weeks! My parents will be coming to town, so will my brother and his family. There will be lots of getting ready for wedding stuff going on. But I think after that – we should be ready to settle down for Labor Day and fall. Has this summer just flown by or what????
